100 horror stories of 100 words each It s hard to review this collection because to describe any of the stories would use words than the stories do Many of the stories by the very nature of the format go by so fast they leave no impression But there are many that do manage to leave a lasting impression on the reader after they zoom by My favorites are Growing a Spare Rachel Green I want to say so much about this, but anything I say will give away too much.Fathers and Sons Quinn Hernandez The pe [...]

  2. March Shoggoth Madness The Haunted Reading Room

100 Horrors is a true centuple, collecting stories by 100 authors, of 100 words each, filing horror to a sharp, sharp point No wasted details, no unnecessary verbiage here just a century of words in which to titillate, frighten, or even terrify a reader Subtitled Tales of Horror in the Blink of an Eye, this anthology can be read nearly that fast, or it can be slowed and savoured, letting the horror sink in and percolate in the reader s bloodstream. The introduction is like a carnival barker drawi [...]

Too many unoriginal monster under the bed stories There were of course a lot of zombie stories, too, but many of these managed to be interesting There are a few really good gems in here, but a lot of stories could have used some tightening up to be really good.

I found this and it s sequel as a free download. This collection is made up of 100 horror stories by 100 authors Each story only has 100 words Horror like humor lends itself to micro, or flash, fiction Both just need the set up and the twist With any collection, there will always be some hits and misses That fact is even apparent in this collection Since the stories are so short, they often don t have the full impact they might have if they were a little longer or the collection was a little sho [...]

I give this collection points for being different and challenging the authors to tell a horror story in 100 words or less The results, unfortunately, are mostly forgettable, though there are a few gems that stick out and the book is a fast and mostly fun read.

Flash horror Quick stories Some pretty gross, others creepy Most were pretty good, given the limitation of 100 words Not all that scary Maybe I am, as mentioned in the forward, desensitized by reading too many horror stories and true crime books Decent book and an interesting premise.

  7. Nan Silvernail

A few gems Some left me scratching my head, though I think a 100 word limit is just a bit too constricting But a bold experiment, nonetheless.
