I truly appreciate this book as a gentle introduction to Anishnaabe traditional stories told in a modern approach I loved how Leanne Simpson integrates Anishnaabemowin throughout her stories I feel like it helped me learn and understand the language better I m excited to add it to my school library I think it will be extremely useful.

  2. Luce Cronin

A collection of traditional Anishnaabe tales Written with typical humour, each one of them drives home an important teaching Leanne Simpson also mingles Anishnaabe words into the text a very clever device at conveying meaning.

This collection of Anishinaabeg fables is truly a gift in their retelling.I particularly appreciated the skillful incorporation of oft used words in the language in such a way as to make it easy and pleasurable to learn.I love the sounds of their language and this is one book I ll be looking to experience again in audio. The original illustrations of Amanda Strong are a strong accompaniment to most of the stories.
