Life in the Time of Zombies by Jeffrey Littorno is the first book in the planned The Most Uncommon Cold series In this suspense thriller, the author spins an incredible yarn which is extremely absorbing and hugely enjoyable Jeffrey masterfully employed good narrative with his added ability to build up the suspense from cover to cover makes it a worthwhile read.In Life in the Time of Zombies, Kevin Turner is a reporter with a local newspaper The Marin Gazette He s scheduled to meet customs agent [...]

My Review was originally published on The Bookie Monster November 2, 2014 I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Honestly, the first half of this novel worked really well for me as author Jeffrey Littorno created a unique protagonist in high school English teacher turned newspaper reporter, Kevin Turner Consequently, the story is told almost entirely from first person point of view this is one of book [...]

Personally, I prefer my zombies served with humor This book has none It started well enough, with mystery and confusion and oddity For the first chapter, although I found the execution of the 1st person perspective less than superlative, I thought it would be a decent rendition of the basic conspiracy plus zombie type of story.Alas The book is riddled with grammatical mistakes, from missing words to mismatched verbs and plurals Beyond that, the writing style itself didn t work for me There are a [...]

Something s not right in San Francisco where a lot of folks seem to have come down with a cold and some of them have started eating other people That s the premise behind Jeffery Littorno s book The Most Uncommon Cold 1 Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse and it works for me Littorno has given his imagination full rein in this book, the first in a series featuring a suburban newspaper reporter who stumbles onto some pretty weird things when he goes out on what seems like a routine assignment to the [...]

From start to finish, The Most Uncommon Cold is a tour de force that keeps the reader turning pages as fast as they can.The story follows Kevin Turner, a newspaper reporter that is called in for a story about an attack at SFO When hiscontact fails to show, he soons realizes that the he hasn t just been stood up, but has a front row seat to a societal shift of apocalyptic proportions From those first pages until the very end, Turner is in a rush for his life, partnering with unlikely companions, f [...]

This was a very action packed book when we start out we meet Kevin Turner a reporter with a local paper who into what happened at the airport when people were reported going mad and eating each other When Kevin gets there he knows something is off For one thing the airport is like deserted and for another the head person in charge at the airport claims it was a drinking incident Kevin doesn t buy that for a minute and goes to head home when he notices that the waitress in a local coffee shop at [...]

The Most Uncommon Cold I Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse by Jeffrey Littorno is a fantastic zombie thriller and is a must read for all zombie fans The pacing is excellent and full of twists and turns to keep the reader turning that next page The characters are believable and so is the premise behind the contagion Kevin Turner is a reporter for a small paper in California An incident at the airport sends him on a quest for the truth behind the epidemic cold virus infecting the population This in [...]

Zombies can speak in this version of the overly concocted genre or at least their last spoken word before being turned It definitely throws survivors a curve as they are not immediately sure that the being in front of them is of the living or the dead That short period of indecision can be a survivors last Our hero, Kevin Turner is certainly scared and confused as he makes his way to the school where his wife teaches, or taught as the case may be Our boy also has some issues hallucinating circum [...]

A journalist, researching a story at the airport about passengers rioting as they left a plane As he investigates he hears stories about people biting each other and horrific injuries The airport is deserted due to employees staying home and it doesn t take long to discover that the virus is related to the zombies that he finds. The MC is a complete asshat He thinks that anyone who has a panic attack is a pansy or mama s boy, he is rude and obnoxious to everyone he meets and I just couldn t stand [...]

Well I started out not liking this read as the zombies could talk Then I really started to get into it and was leaning toward four stars but then felt it abruptly ended in the police station I was left wondering if my Ipad was messed up and did not download all of the book It was like he just stopped writing and submitted what he had for publication I guess it leaves it open for , but I kind of wanted the now and the remaining 100 pages or so that I thought were left of the book were just a sam [...]

It pained me to hear over and over how deserted the streeta were, how no one was on the road or roaming the neighborhood The whole time I m thinking, get the hell outta there man and prepare I didn t finish it.

AwfulI wasted my money on this one I really tried to read it but just couldn t stand the repetition So poorly written and slow moving Made me want to scream.

Honestly, the first half of this novel worked really well for me, as author Jeffrey Littorno created a unique protagonist in high school English teacher turned newspaper reporter, Kevin Turner Consequently, the story is told almost entirely from first person point of view this is one of book s caveats as the reader undoubtedly questions the narrator s reliability, especially during the second half of the story, as he fuzzily slips in and out of manic episodes and possible emotionally induced psy [...]

This book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review Something very weird is happening all around Kevin Turner Everyone seems to have this really strange cold that s been going around No one is out and about around the neighborhood, no one is out on the highways, and no one is at the airport which is where Kevin is waiting for someone He s a reporter who is doing a story about this weird incident that happened where there was some serious scuffle that went on there Unfortunat [...]

There were certain things in this that really gave me chills First off, zombies that talk That is an issue My daughter and I had an entire conversation about this When zombies can do things that are too human like, then we have issues Like running Why would zombies just stop running all of a sudden Yes, they are dead, but those muscles were just recently dead The ability to talk calls in the same question. The idea of this really gave me the creeps It was such a great addition, especially since t [...]

With plenty of action and zombies, some blood and several scene changes to keep it moving forward, this story would make a decent zombie thriller movie If you like all things zombies or thriller and horror novels, you ll need to read this book Kevin Turner is a 36 year old reporter from The Marin Gazette who discovers half eaten bodies while trying to find out what is happening in the world a new horrible zombie reality and how the things outside became those things outside Kevin, together with [...]

Zombies are all the rage, what with movies, TV shows, and books cropping up daily on the subject For a zombie themed work to stand out from the crowd, it must do something special That s what this book does. The story follows Kevin, a local reporter Still rocked by the death of his wife, Kevin s already fragile nerves are put to the test when a deadly illness starts spreading He is soon forced to do things he d never thought himself capable of just to survive. One problem that works in this genre [...]

I ve actually read 1 4 of this series 5 to be released soon so I figured I would write a review based on the summation of all 4 Overall, not bad I d recommend it as a good rainy day read to pass the time The books aren t very long I read all 4 in two days 2 of them in the last 4 hours I tend to skim when I m bored with a story and I did a fair amount of skimming But only when it came to the parts where Kevin s imagination got the best of him The lead character creates scenarios in his mind of wh [...]

Kevin Turner, a local reporter in California, has to face a challenge of a lifetime A killer virus is infecting people, spreading its deadly tentacles in humans faster than a man could think The unthinkable is happening and in order to save his wife Kevin must use every researcher skill he has in him, form alliances and learn how to think out of the box but is even that enough The story grows page by page, hooking the reader slowly but surely, and making sure there is no way of stopping reading [...]

Now THIS is how you start a goddamn zombie story The grimy fingers poked slowly into the skin of the stomach that s the first sentence from this book Fucking awesome start. From there, it turns into a fairly standard escape from the zombies story The only difference from any other zombie story is that this zombie outbreak spreads like the common cold Some people are immune, like the narrator, but most people end up eating brains.I was disappointed that this story abruptly ends, without any kind o [...]

All around Kevin Turner, is horrific chaos There is no command of authority, law enforcement or even armed forces People have changed they are no longer identifiable, and the deceased, well they are no longer deceased, catch my drift zombies Kevin can only hope for a miracle to survive the horror that is present.Okay, so if you want scary you re gonna get scary, however, that said, I definitely read this at the wrong time, late at night and home alone When I finished it, I couldn t sleep and wa [...]

I ve never read a zombie book before and I was hesitant, but I really enjoyed the story The plot has a horror element to it, but it also has mystery There are twists and turns that tie in together at the end.The main character, Kevin Turner, is thrust into a life and death situation Not only does he have to figure out what is causing the people of Marin County to act so strange, he has to save his wife He enlists the help of Detective Greg Lawrence an unlikely pair to figure out the cause. They a [...]

Weird Unique Annoying Absorbing These are the words that I associate with The Most Uncommon Cold I by Jeffrey Littorno The storyline is very weird and unique But it is because of this weirdness that makes it absorbing The parts that I found annoying was the amount of times the main character had flashbacks After the fourth time of the same flashback, it became tedious and very annoying Not to mention that each time he sees a shell he calls the zombies he gets angry It seems the only way he has c [...]

Very poorly written with tons of grammatical, spelling, and just plain wrong word or missing word errors I got really tired of the rehash of the same scene, thoughts, encounters, and so on A very slow narrative and I felt like I was struggling through a sea of mindless bodies and I don t mean that I felt like I was engaged in the story or sympathetic to the character s I speed read most of 2nd half and then couldn t bare to read any to finish it I am definitely not interested in a sequel ETA I [...]

Zombie Cold I gave it a rating of four due to the spelling errors I loved everything else in the book even though it had an unusual spin on Zombies I recommend this book to anyone that wants to read a Zombie book that is unique in its own right.

  28. Todd Menesses

I recently provided the narration for the audiobook version of this book Really great and different twist on the zombie genre, if you like zombie stories I would suggest you check it out in audiobook form to really bring it to life.

Pretty lousy Sorry I only made it about one third of the way before I couldn t take any No real plot and the negatives of the characters was too much for me.
