I am no poetry expert I have friends who write poetry that slips off their tongues so elegantly that all I can do is envy them, but I ve never been too great at writing it Or judging it, for that matter sometimes deeper meaning just flies over my head. However, I know what it is like to enjoy poetry And I enjoyed Sherry Rentschler s poetry immensely.First of all, I read this collection of poems in a single day In less than eight hours, including going to school, celebrating my dad s birthday, and [...]

Paper Bones by Sherry Rentschler is proof that poetry is not a dead language or bygone art form.As I read her book, I felt emotions slice through my soul She moves lyrically from hate and indifference to love, and then from despair to hope While this book has reflections on domestic violence, it also covers love, the loss of a close friend and so much It s a dance of words and emotions choreographed from a lifetime of experiences The poetry also shows that abuse is not just for the lower class [...]

I bought this book directly from the author. All my English classes in college just about killed any taste for poetry There is only so much analysis a person can take before going numb It has not been until recently that I gave poetry another try I bought this author s other book, By Light Betrayed, because the cover model is smokin hot However, when I read her poetry, I remembered what poetry is supposed to be So I was way excited when I saw she had another book I loved the poems in here This bo [...]

Sherry Rentschler is a true wordsmith Her playful phrases such jalapeno smile or morphine stare leave nothing undone While reading Paper Bones I didn t wonder what do these poems mean The varied subject matter of the book such as the space shuttle Columbia, domestic violence, aging, beauty, body image, and betrayal were illuminating and interesting.

It takes a special kind of person to review poetry, and I am not that person That said, Paper Bones still struck a chord with my verse ignorant mind I found Sherry Rentschler s heartfelt songs refreshing and thought provoking Her work demonstrates a wide versatility, and her strong imagery evokes an expansive range of emotions Recommended for readers of modern poetry with an edge.

While poetry is not my favorite genre, I do take time to enjoy it and explore it from time to time The beauty of a good collection of poems is that you are likely to find quite a few that you can relate to Then, if you were to read the same works some time later, perhaps a different handful of verses would mean the most Sherry Rentschler has certainly crafted and collected a fine sampling of her work Most importantly, she clearly lets her creative vision be free and uninhibited She allows her id [...]

This is my book I rather liked the finished product I hope everyone finds a poem that is relateable but , I hope that collectively, the poetry identifies the best and worst of our society There are issues within that we need to pay attention to and this is my way of showcasing them But there is humor too, and I hope you ll laugh with me May you find something that etches itself forever in the bone.

A fresh, modern collection of poetry The 2013 book is less than 100 pages in length and easy to read in a single afternoon Gone are the days of being force fed school mistress approved poetry and the resulting memorization The author s poetry is both relevant and emotionally charged Hang tight as you take a journey through all the feels.Full disclosure I did win a copy of this book as part of a 2015 author sponsored contest But, I was not paid, or subsidized in any way, for a review.
