3.5 stars Review posted December 10, 2013After reading and totally despising Blue Dreams I was honestly not interested to give Red Awakening a shot As a matter of fact, I tried to pretend that I never read Blue Dreams, so it wouldn t taint my fond memories of Split I came back to my decision when Mel Bossa offered me an ARC I was impressed because an author needs class to do that And about your honestyI figured, if I can convince the person who hated the book the most to give Red Awakening a cha [...]

I will rate this between 3.5 and 4 stars It s hard for me to review this because I absolutely LOVED Split I mean, it was really, really, great After that, I just didn t enjoy the story as much in Blue Dreams and Red Awakening. It s hard for me to get past the fact that I despise Ethand I don t really like Myles all that much either They are both so annoying and needy, and they played a huge part in what happened between Nick and Derek But, life is messy and not always perfect so I figured that Et [...]

In short, this book is the story of how Derek grows without Nick but at the end of the book I could not see any growth Nick and Derek are codependent to each other and Boone, Nick s brother is the only adult and mature character in the story But at least they have a happy ending.

2.9 stars Initially, I did not think I would read this one after the great disappointment caused by the previous book But I caved to my curiosity After finishing it, I still have mixed feelings about the whole situation and how the aftermath reconciliation was handled, but I am mollified to an extent I wanted personal growth for Derek and further relationship healing between him and Nick They spent too little time together to make the latter aspect credible, in my opinion Which brings me to my [...]

When Split ended, I liked the characters and where they were at in their lives and in their relationship I thought Split was an almost perfect book So good in fact that I wasn t sure I wanted to continue reading about their lives And I probably should have read Blue Dreams, but Ethan and Myles didn t really interest me, so maybe I missed something major by skipping straight to Red Awakening although I could surmise what had happened by Derek s account of things in book three And I have to say I [...]

2.75 starsThis one is an improvement over the second book Sadly, that does not say much as just about anything would have been an improvement over the second book.Still, this book is nowhere near the ballpark of Split Nick most be bipolar, as I haven t seen a character change so much from book to book, and not in a good way The amount of eye rolling moments and utterly ridiculous scenarios in this book will make you wonder if your eyeballs will get permanently stuck in the upright position.I gav [...]

These boys just break me in half Neither is whole without the other but they torture themselves, and the reader, forever I m not a fan of fast and easy resolutions for my guys, but this one was almost too drawn out even for me I have to admit I could finally breathe again when it was finally over So many readers didn t like this series, but I did and I think that if you are looking for something a little gritty, with a lot of mistakes along the way, then just maybe Nick and Derek might work for [...]

This wasn t resolved completely to my liking but it still had me gripped until the end, so it s worth the 4 stars to me.
