This is another a very good book in the Schooled in Magic series although I have to say that I am somewhat concerned about the direction the stories in this universe seems to be going I quite like this world and I would like to continue to read about Emily s adventures in this magical world I do not mind the archaic way the world is governed or the outdated way women sometimes are looked at It is part of the charm of these book and it is fiction after all Therefore I am not too happy reading abo [...]

Emily s mistakes are very frustrating for me as a reader I feel like she s not really growing as a person Also, I get a tell vibe not a show vibe from her emotions. That being said for the whole series I really loved this book s plot line but I feel like the books are being published faster than I can read them, which is annoying for obvious reasons.Edit I m rereading this book because of Caleb, whom I really like.

I was so pleased to see that this latest had been released This is another summer vacation book after Emily s third year of magic school This time she goes home to her castle to host the magical fair that she visited the summer before And pretty much everything that can go wrong, does go wrong I liked the idea of following a Romeo and Juliet romance from the outside, and considering all the implications of that romance as it would have affected the people who weren t the couple in the middle of [...]

I found myself jumping in on Christopher Nuttall s latest Schooled in Magic ebook tale, moving it to the top of the pile Emily was kidnaped from our world to the no named lands by a necromancer looking for a child of destiny Emily s mother was named Destiny and rescued by Void, a powerful mage, who sends her to Whitehall for training In the previous book she finished her third year She also, with the help of the industrious family of a friend, has been introducing Earth technology like the print [...]

Love s Labour s WonThis is very good in the content of the storyline Emily continues with trials and tribulations as she gets older and aware of her duties and magical power The next installment should be totally mind shattering I can t wait

  6. Ben Premack

A good read, but it doesn t hold a candle to the earlier books in the Schooled in Magic series and feels like young adult fiction.

Summer break Oh, good Time to go to the Faire Oops Emily had agreed to host the Faire at the Barony of Cockatrice but she had left ALL of the arrangements to her steward Bryon, who unfortunately did the minimum possible Magicians from all over the Allied Lands sent in payments for stalls.Emily thought she knew something about the Faire, having attended it after her Second Year The Faire at Cockatrice, she finds out, will be some two to three times larger at least and BOTH of the famously feuding [...]

This is far and away my favorite of the summer break books, thus far Superbly plotted, and very engaging or at least engrossing characters I was annoyed with Emily a couple times, especially her reaction to one of the matches in the book, but at least she is a unique distinctive character I m impressed with the author and the series Really can t stop reading.

This one could be 3 3.5 stars, Maybe fewer ideas from others in this one but maybe it is me and I am not looking for them any or just failed to notice them as much I do like when a person takes over a kingdom and tries to rule it, changes laws and sees the consequences I always like those types of scenarios in books I will continue with the series as I still like it even with all of its problems.

  10. Shereen Lang

I did really enjoy this book There were a few points about it that didn t flow as well, mostly the parts involving Lady Barb and Master Grey Other than that, it was pretty entertaining.

  11. Rosina Rushen

Great continuationGreat book to continue the story With a lot of unexpected twists I really can t wait to read the next book.

  12. Ronny

Nice read, much like the previous ones, a bit on the nose at times also surprised she didn t take the whitehall heart warning from the previous book to heart

  13. Mary B. Grove

the weakest so farNothing much happens until the end of the book, Emily spends a lot of time getting pushed around by almost everyone else, and there s this looming sense that things could go terribly wrong, but they don t really, at least not until the very end So lots of potential drama, but not many real fireworks set off.Too many of the books in this series center on Emily s ignorance and the poor decisions she makes out of it Everyone who is older and or has authority over her feels quite h [...]

I enjoyed the book well enough, but I have to say that I was frankly disappointed in it Although it does fit in with the rest of the series, which I have grown to enjoy very much, it didn t really move things forward very much There wasn t really sufficient literary tension to sustain a full book, and it ended up feeling like a stop gap between things, or as setup and staging for the next installment The characters remain interesting and compelling, but they simply didn t do a whole lot or grow [...]

Some observations and distractions as I read Chapter 2 nice reference to a quote in a previous book.Chapter 4 continuity error Didn t Frieda drink wine in the previous book Lady Barb had told her they d be going through a portal yes, she already knew this and so did we.Ok, Lady Barb has a watch too And there was reference to a clock I was wondering about those.Chapter 10 I think he learned the word gimlet last book.Done.Another good read Some look at the world and of a teenager from this world [...]

I did really enjoy this book There were a few points about it that didn t flow as well, mostly the parts involving Lady Barb and Master Grey Other than that, it was pretty entertaining. The only real negative thing I have to say isn t about the so much as it is about the afterward, where the author discusses how he was taught Romeo and Juliet in school He seems to assume we were all taught the way that he was but it appears that he was taught very differently from my own experience He seems to th [...]

This is one of my favorite series, I love it so much Mister Nuttall always give me my money worth with his stories Love s labor s won is a good follow up to Em s adventures in mountaintop I won t spoil you about the content of the story, but I can garantee you that from what I read in this one the next book show awesome promise Emily is steadily overcoming the introvert person she was in the first book, she is decisive But I think that there is room for her to grow even and I m sure that the n [...]

Back on trackMy major complaint of the last two books was that Emily wasn t developing fast enough as a character There is no nebulous prophesy justifying rand bursts of strength, so Emily needed to grow In this book, I feel she grew a lot.Beyond that, Nuttal is an established author, and you know what are getting into by now High quality writing, adequate page count for the price, and a great world The reason why it isn t 5 stars is because it isn t perfect, and I feel that Nuttal has earned hi [...]

I quite enjoy the combining of tech and magic as it progresses I could honestly read a whole book about Emily working on wards for her castle And I greatly respect making it this many books without a single instance of pawning off a strong female to some perfect lover with lots of Lisa Frank stickers and hearts.Young Adult, but I feel like it s written much strongly than its peers At first I was a little bothered by grammar choices, but the writing tightens up as the series goes on.

  20. Martin Vick

Fun read Enjoyable story but can t help being distracted by the author s over use of some words dryly and sardonically Every time a character says something dryly and they do almost every other page I want to yell buy the author a thesaurus There are some poorly constructed sentences and lots of typos too Did this author have an editor

  22. Kurt Benson

Good readEmily gets in enough trouble for three people most of the time This time it s worse Hosting a magic fair many times larger than any previous one, inviting two families that make the Hatfield s and McCoys look like BFFs, and I troducing

  23. Mary

I devoured this series 9 books in 2 weeks A Magic School, a young girl with magic from this dimension, teachers, potions, dukedoms and nobility do not always mix, but they do make for good reading.

  24. Justin Lambert

couldn t put it downSo much praise Great book Downloaded last Wednesday, started Friday, just finished Sunday morning Great book better series I hope to see this series go on for many installments,

  25. Morandia

I still love this series Emily makes such disastrous decisions, but always manages to come out on top even if she does keep making enemies

  26. Chrissy Stoll

Compared to the other books in this series, not a whole lot happened in this book It seemed a bit like filler.

  27. Jay

still getting a kick out of the series, but some character development is feeling long overdue at this point.
