You can always return home butAs I have always stated, I have no love for stories told in first person I find in these types of stories that I never like the characters By knowing their every thought, they usually come across as too whinny, needy, cocky, selfish, doormat, etc which usually makes for a pretty irritating and annoying person This story is no different Truth be told, as soon as Carrie returns to town and runs into her old flame, Officer Mark Paulson, I am instantly annoyed with her [...]

celebrityreaders.wordpressThis book is perma free. This was a quick suspenseful read It had lots of sensual steaminess as well The plot was a bit hard to follow and I felt the characters could have been fleshed out a bit but with it being such a short book I forgave that.I was a little upset how the book ended with no real closure I get that authors want to entice the reader to purchase the next book but I have a rule that if SOME of the plot isn t resolved in the end then I won t read the next [...]

This is the second series I have read by Raine, and it only gets better I am a super fan now Again, I could not stop reading long enough to write a review for all three books in this series, so I am clumping them together All I can really say is hold on to your seats It has been a while since I read romantic suspense, and now I can t remember why, but I am sure glad that I started back with Raine Return sets the stage leaving the reader confused just enough to snag you into book 2 By book 2 the [...]

I was honored to receive this book from Meli Raine for my honest opinion of the book and the first word that come to my mind is WOW and then I did not expect that to happen I loved her first series which started with Finding Allie and I was so very excited to be given the opportunity to read this first book in her new serieswith that said I will warn all of you that this is the first of three books in the series and that it ends with a cliff hanger and what a cliff hanger it isat falls into the [...]

Carrie is returning to her home town After years away and to many bad memories, she was offered a job at the university and it was to good to pass up Wouldn t you know it the first person she runs into is her ex Officer Mark Paulson She wonders if he has forgiven her for leaving without a word Yet does it really matter since her father was arrested and sent to prison He never even warned her So much has changed and yet stayed the same The man her father said set him up is now Carrie s boss Women [...]

Oh wow this book had me on my toes the whole time , it s funny how you think you know something is going to happen and you just want to find out Carrie comes back home to try and find out the truth about what happened in the town that sent her father to prison and eventually got him killed She got an offer to work at the university and she took it knowing it would get her closer to the truth only problem is everybody knows why she is back it seems Carrie no got back into town when she runs into [...]

Fantastic Can anyone blame Carrie for wanting justice, for taking back her life Unfortunately, something s not quite right Women are being kidnapped, people are hiding information and others are trying to threaten Carrie Through it all, sexy police officer, Mark, looks at Carrie with hunger in his eyes Is this hunk of an ex boyfriend keeping his own secrets Does he know than he should Does he want Carrie back or is he just trying to protect her Meli Raine has left me hanging with an enormous cl [...]

As you can tell, this is a verified purchase However, I did receive an ARC in return for a honest review and loved it so much, I bought it immediately I just finished reading it and the suspense for the next book is already killing me Meli is an amazing author and I ve read everything she s written so far I don t want to write too much because I d probably end up spoiling it for everyone Read Meli s Chasing Allie Series and start reading this one You don t need to read the other series first, bu [...]

This book is incredibly short Judging by its length, one could safely assume that all three books in the series could be combined into one, and still be much shorter than one Diana Gabaldon book The story is rather engrossing, but some of the mechanics are a little shaky, and the plot is foreshadowed so thoroughly, it practically has its own eclipse One can almost see where the plot of the following two books will go I almost feel like I don t need to read them Carrie has returned home to southe [...]

IT ENDS ON A % CLIFFHANGER I somehow forgot to look at the reviews for this book or I wouldn t have gotten it even free I hate, hate, hate books that end on a cliffhanger IF the author doesn t tell me in advance There should be an explicit note saying it ends in a cliffhanger When you don t do that, then you ve lost me as a customer for good I have ZERO patience for that kind of nonsense How am I to know if ANY of your books will EVER end properly rather than b a cliffhanger I m out

  12. Natalie

I picked this up as a freebie on It is a quick read, setting the story and laying the foundation for the series ahead I liked the story and there is definite intrigue even if the flow and grammar could have used a bit of tightening up It does end on a cliffhanger so be prepared for lots of questions and little answers but no need to worry since the next two books in the series are already released.

  13. Lisa Mandina

The book was pretty good, kept me turning pages to see what would happen next BUT Total cliffhanger I will do a review on my blog at some point hopefully before the end of the year.

  14. Madison

This book is horrific Seriously don t bother.I love mystery suspense romance books, and I had high hopes for this one going in The over all plot idea was intriguing and had potential The execution of said plot was sadly lacking Mediocre plot aside it was the romance that was the worst I m so annoyed that I bought it as an ebook because if it had been print I would have returned it a couple chapters in SPOILERSThe main character Carrie is the most pathetic heroine I ve ever read about Every time [...]

  15. Paulette Hilton

Had cliffhangerI could tell very early on that this was going to be a story that drags you painfully along to an unsatisfying cliffhanger There must be a template out there that a lot of the writers are using to help them write these books that s a waste of time because they all do the same thing Drag on and on till you can t take it any any who buys other instalments is a masochist It is such an unexpected pleasure to find one of these books were the spelling and grammar is acceptable which thi [...]

I m sorry, but 190 pages, isn t a full length novel in my opinion I don t think there was enough time to correctly build this relationship She knows he arrested her dad and thinks his actions directly affected the length of her dad s life and yet, she is ready to jump his bones Ummmm She didn t finish college and she is offered the job of a lifetime at the same college, that didn t sound fishy This seemed like a bunch of different books squeezed in to one and not really done well at that, there [...]

Will you ever get justice or do you want revenge as well Carrie has come home to find answers on why someone framed her father But will she find out the truth or will she suffer even Mark can t believe that she is back, he still loves but he knows that she blames him for her father s death in a way Can he ever tell her the truth or is it too late now Carrie can t believe what is happening around her she really thought that she could trust Mark but he is sleeping with the enemy and that really h [...]

So far , everything i have read from Meli Raine i really loved reading I have to be honest , all the series are the same genre and stuff But still each series is different and thrilling to read There is mistery , romance , angst , suspense , dark moments , soul crushing moments , sweet moments This author is good at keeping you at the edge of your seat Wondering what will happen next Wondering how it will end I have not yet read a book from her that i did not like Each and every one deserves a 5 [...]

Good bookCarrie is a feisty girl, shell bent on finding out who is behind setting up her father for drug manufacturing and sells After being sentenced to prison in Oklahoma City, Carrie follows behind, leaving everyone and everything behind Three years later, after her dad dies, she goes home She accepts a job at the local college where the drugs were being made so she could investigate herself So much turmoil occurs for her from the minute she crosses the county line She encounters the cop that [...]

  20. kim caldwell

Starts great but.I hate a cliffhanger.cially like this one Story is moving on, something shocking happened and it is over Boo Storyline is good Coming back home is hard, especially when your dad just died and you have too return to the place you left everything in Heartstrings still pull from the very first, and kidnapping and an investigation into a frame up in drug traffickingl great but

  21. Emmaa22

I like the author s writing style, which is easy to read and quite compulsive However, this was so similar in format to the previous series I d read by her them that it was a bit disappointing The man from the past who she shouldn t still want, but can t help her physical attraction to, despite her best efforts, the sinister large scale mystery confronting herI just wasn t drawn in this time, maybe after a few months

  22. Joan

First person present tense Just didn t work for me The overdone trope of breaking down in an ancient car on the way home only to be rescued by ex boyfriend Nothing imaginative or different Way too much info about when she is wearing, what her hair is like, how cold and wet and miserable she is yadda yadda yadda. Not rating at this time.

  23. Patricia Alker

I hate books that are really just chapters that leave you hanging without any resolution of the plot They are just ploys to get the reader to purchase the next book, OOOPs series of chapters. And this is one of them No, I am not going to purchase the next book I hope publishers and writers get the message Give me a book.

  24. Lisa

Pretty predictableI decided I wasn t going to read any by this author as the book was just too predictable But, she ended it on a cliff hanger so I guess I m stuck reading books 2 and 3.

  25. Corina Jamieson

HuhI would have given this stars, but its not a full story It stops suddenly and to find out what s happening you need to buy the next instalmentUghNot happening.

  26. Cathy Egan

Really like the story, but there s too much of the main character s thoughts slowing down the story Still have the two sequels to finish Hoping it gets better I already like the intriguing storyline, though So, finger s crossed

  27. elaine m. suda

Back HomeThank you for this intense and exciting story about Carrie and Mark I really enjoyed the storyline and the different characters, but was really disappointed in the abrupt ending.

  28. Bettyann Talley

SerialThis is not a book It is chapter one of a serial like they used to publish in ladies magazines to make one buy the next issue A good start to a story but it cannot stand alone A really good story has a beginning, a middle and an end This has no end.
