Some resources listed and good opening points made about how we, as a society, are obsessed with digital media to the point that it is not even considered unusual to see a table of adults at a restaurant all typing into their phones instead of interacting with one another Lots of recommendations for reducing social media clutter but as GoodReads is the social media where I am most active, that isn t really my problem I have already purposely limited and restricted my social media interactions Wh [...]

An engaging book and another how to sort out your life on and offline book All the strategies I have read and heard before, but they are assembled into a strong and well structured package. The area that is touched on at the start that is the really important issue is that there is an explosion of information through social media and content generation from users, but most of it is rubbish So the meta issue that is raised by the information explosion is not the amount of material but our incapaci [...]

Not much new And boring Some of the recommended apps are useless But it made me think about clearing out a lot of equally useless stuff So that s good.

Surprisingly helpful A lot of these sorts of newsletter books contain paragraphs of self aggrandizement and empty platitudes but this one is actually quite practical It s relatively straightforward here s why you should declutter, here are the benefits, here s a step by step checklist and here s how to keep up with it There s also some solid advice you don t always see in other productivity guides, such as tips on picking a really effective password something most of us can easily overlook to us [...]

Once upon a time, families sat down at a table for dinner and talked about their day as they ate The world has completely changed in the past 15 years As Steve Scott and Barry Davenport show us in their latest collaboration, the internet is no longer just a thing of convenience it is a way of life, and for millions of people around the world, it is quickly creating the world s next epidemic of tablet, computer and internet addicts, a global society that is fixated on the virtual world.Backed up [...]

Quick and easy read on the topic I was able to take some of the teachings and apply them to immediate use.

For a book available through Kindle Unlimited it is not so bad Basic info but you get some ideas on how to cut back on the digital clutter.

I was given a copy of this book, based on my interest in some similar books, and I was excited to read and review it I finished it two weeks ago.At first, I would have given the book 3 stars The authors tend to exaggerate the dangers of social media and technology use to the point of fear mongering That put me off.I also thought the 10 Minute title was misleading There are a lot of activities presented in this book, and they take a lot than 10 minutes I was overwhelmed when first reading it Mak [...]

Forget the whole ten minute thing, it s bullshit It does have some good ideas, but many are common sense to anyone who has lived in the digital world for long backup, use a virus checker, use multiple strong passwords, etc it also has some quite useful ideas The biggest problem, for me, is not that I spend too much Tim or too much computer resources on junk current enormous hard drives and universal search software take care of much of this problem The authors are relentless in their belief that [...]

This is one of those books that might have been effective at a different time I read it while I was still working my way through Marie Kondo s The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up Trying to fight physical clutter at the same time as digital clutter was just a bit much. However, there are some good tips here, and it did make me want to work on this after I tackle some of my other clutter issues.

  15. Julia Mayhugh

I could see someone who is totally lost with managing digital assets getting something out of this book, but as someone who works in technology, tips like make a lot of backups and organize your files into logical folders, were just not very helpful In fact, I didn t find any insight that I hadn t read elsewhere online 4 years or ago Also, Mac users, be aware it doesn t ignore the Mac, but it s heavily PC oriented.

  16. Lia

Common sense and really basic chores that most of us are doing anyway Things like backup your stuff and choose decent passwords Admittedly I ve read way to many books on information overload management, this one is VERY basic, and somewhat preachy Two stars despite feeling like a complete waste of time, because I imagine I m not the target audience and it s my fault I chose to read it.

  17. Betsy

Another imminently practical, how to book that is a quick read Some great tips in here for organizing the digital mess we often find ourselves with I don t organize my stuff in quite the same way, but I appreciated the author s emphasis on the HABIT of digital organization maintenance It also nudged me into some way overdue computer decluttering organization

  18. Jamie Tan

The 10 Minute Digital Declutter is a simple book and while I understand the intention of the authors , I found the instruction too simplistic for my purpose I m probably the wrong audience for this book and can at best give it a fair rating for the effort.

  19. Marina Aris

Great tips ideas I m a fan of Steve Scott s books because each section is well organized and gets to the point quickly The tips are always helpful and you can tweak them to suit your needs.

  20. Ben Zhang

Overall, this book gave me some pretty good tips, but in my opinion many of the topics were repeated and used too many times I really liked the tips given in this book, and I will apply those to my Digital Declutter too

  21. Rob

Great Digital MotivationWell written and concise Excellent information on tackling the overwhelming amount of digital clutter that has invaded our lives over the past several years.

  22. Ramona Mead

More like 2.5 stars There were helpful tidbits but it feels like a lot of information to remember and keep track of.

  23. Edmund

Excellent guidanceMuch of the guidance is intuitive, but the authors provide a nice framework to work through the e mess Good and quick read.

  24. Glinda Harrison

Got through 54% of this First half was all unnecessary facts, figures, info about authors and plugs for their other books I found no real useful information here.

  25. Lin Watchorn

A helpful readI wish it offered different systems of setting up your organizing, like Steve Scott s usual books it was helpful and to the point.
