This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review Thank you Audio Book Boom, Lisa B Thomas, and Kelley Hazen Sharpe Edge is indeed pleasant and enjoyable it s actually the perfect book to fall asleep to At any given time I ve got three novels going one in my car must be very stimulating as I must be alert while driving , one to listen to around the house must be very engaging as I get bored while doing housework , and one at my bedside The one that I use to re [...]

This is an appealing cozy mystery with likeable characters, good details, and ever growing suspense There were a lot of characters, but Ms Thomas introduced them a few at a time to make it easier to keep track of them The only thing that puzzled me was the prologue It was very well written and brought me to tears, making this reader wish to read THAT story In a way it overshadowed the present day story for a few chapters But fans of cozy mysteries will definitely like this one, especially if you [...]

This book was great fun Suspects theories go back forth quickly Readers will be nearly finished before they can definitively decide what is what Deena is a fabulous heroine, gutsy honest The townsfolk are all a little quirky as we d expect from Smalltown, USA.As for the plot, the death of someone wealthy may not be new per se, but this is definitely a new spin It isn t a typical holiday story either which makes it all the fun I look forward to Sharpe books in the future I give it 5 stars.

I listened to the audiobook version of this story and have included notes on the audio quality as well as the story itself The StoryWho would want Caroline Fitzhugh dead Although the police believe the town matriarch s death is simply an accident, her daughter Estelle believes it s murder and enlists Deena s investigative assistance Deena is particularly motivated to investigate as Estelle is her brother Russell s love interest The story gets juicy as we come across multiple suspects, each with [...]

Better than most cozy mysteries I hate the term cozy mysteries , especially since most of them are murder mysteries There is nothing cozy about a murder, even if nobody uses profane language and there are no graphic description of sexual intercourse God created human beings as animals that procreate by sexual intercourse and have the capability to enjoy it, so a disrespect for sex is a disrespect for the divine being that created it But that same divine being gave ten commandments, one of which [...]

Where does Sharpe Edge rank among all the audiobooks you ve listened to so far Somewhere in the middleWhat was your reaction to the ending No spoilers please I had figured it out and was tying the pieces together Too typical of the cozies the journey was fascinating than the destination.Which character as performed by Kelley Hazen was your favorite I have friends who were born in Texas and has moved to Texas This narrator has a distinct Southern accent, but it didn t seem Texan It was hard to s [...]

This is my first book by Lisa B Thomas and I have to say I liked it a lot The audio version kept me listening and guessing whodunit along with the main character When it comes to the book itself, I liked the plot a lot and I liked the characters, too They were diversified, interesting people, some of them acting suspiciously than others The book itself starts a bit slow, but soon the pace grows and the plot engages the reader listener And the ending when we find out who the murderer is really d [...]

3.5 starsThis was a entertaining, interesting and enjoyable cozy mystery This was just a good clean fun afternoon listen The story pulled me in right away and kept my attention until the end A bit of suspense, a little humor and a healthy dose of mystery and intrigue Don t let the Christmas setting put you off It s an enjoyable mystery anytime of year Interesting and quirky cast of characters both likable and unlikable Although I think Russell was my favorite character There is just something im [...]

A comical and entertaining cozy mystery Sharpe Edge is a cozy mystery that follows Deena as she tries to uncover another murder mystery Set in Texas, I find the book interesting as I enjoy reading books with places that I know mentioned in them I like how the author mixes in mystery with humor to create a unique and enjoyable read Lisa Thomas has once again wrote a witty and adventurous mystery with a very intriguing plot that will keep you guessing at each turn Ms Thomas does a great job with t [...]

I enjoy Lisa Thomas s Cozy Suburb Mystery series Her characters are well developed and very human and the situations they get themselves into are believable There is a good amount of mystery with some humor and the stories flow to a satisfying but not predictable ending Deanna Sharpe, a 50 something former journalism teacher and now newspaper reporter in the small town of Maycroft, Texas, is an unlikely heroine, which makes it easy to identify with her She seems to find mystery everywhere she go [...]

Sharpe Edge by Lisa B Thompson opens with a Christmas party for the upper crust of the Dallas suburb of Maycroft in the home of Caroline, the top socialite in the town, and Deena Sharpe gets invited with her husband for the first time, probably because her brother, Russell, is dating Estelle, Caroline s daughter But as the evening ends, Estelle finds her wheelchair bound mother at the bottom of the stairs with a broken neck and cuts all over Everyone figures that she fell by accident, but Estell [...]

2 in the series, and already Deena Sharpe has a reputation as a sleuth from her previous case, whether she wants it or not When the hostess at a fancy party ends up dead, seemingly pushed down the stairs in her wheelchair, the daughter asks Deena to look into it, especially when the local PD seem to think it was an accident, not a push Since the daughter is dating Deena s brother, Russell.Thomas writes a convincing tale, filled with believable characters Deena is a reluctant sleuth, and she does [...]

With loads of twists and turns, humor and seemingly no end to the list of possible suspects, Sharpe Edge was a very entertaining listen Every time I thought I had it figured out, another suspect threw a monkey wrench in things for me The characters had just the right amount of quirkiness to make them believable and Kelley Hazen did a great job bringing them to life and keeping me engaged Fun stuff indeed I would highly recommend Sharpe Edge Cozy Suburbs Mystery Series, Book 2.I was given this fr [...]

Deena Sharpe has retired from teaching and is working for the local newspaper She has been invited to the biggest Christmas Party of the season at Maycroft Hall During the party Caroline Maycroft, the elderly hostess is found dead at the bottom of the stairs It looks like she accidentally rolled her wheelchair down the stairs However her daughter, who Deena s brother is dating, believes someone pushed her mother since her mother was terrified of falling down the stairs and never went near them W [...]

This story was such fun to narrate Lisa has created a whole town full of interesting, lovely, warm characters Her humor is charming and her mystery, complete with turnarounds and red herrings Quite brow raising All the reasons one chooses cozy mysteries are here I look forward to recording of Lisa s work We are about to set to work on SHARPE MIND, Book 3 in the Cozy Suburbs Mystery series However, SHARPE EDGE provides an additional charm It s the perfect kind of story to read at the holidays al [...]

There are a lot of clues and some red herrings Don t let the Prologue confuse you Read it, but stick it away in your memory bank for way later in the story I am about 68% sure that you will understand where it come in to play in the story There is a lot of money involved, several suitors, and at least one thief Other than that, it is just your very exciting Cozy mystery and I recommend it for those who think they can figure things out I figured out some of the mysteries, but not all, by a long s [...]

My review is based on the Audiobook Sharpe Edge was a great Cozy mystery It has twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end It was quite humorous as well, I even found myself laughing out loud in parts Kelley Hazen does a superb job as narrator I could easily distinguish between characters and her voice had the perfect inflection, never dull or monotone as some I have listened to I would definitely listen to other books narrated by her I received this audiobook free via Audioboom w [...]

I listened to this book as an audiobook I enjoyed it The characters are fun and not so many that you can t keep them straight I kept changing my guess as to what actually happened and who did it haha I enjoyed the quirky little town they lived in and she described everything very well The only thing I would change is make it longer It seemed to be over so quick Thanks for the great listen I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

DelightfulI stumbled across this series in my recommended read and so I read the prequel first even though it wasn t written first It was written well enough that I didn t wonder who the established characters were and there roles in Mrs Sharpe s life I now have another series, the Cozy Suburbs Mysteries to fill my kindle and enjoy reading I look forward to see how the series progresses.

  22. Halbmaierje

Sharpe Edge was an enjoyable read that kept me guessing I couldn t decide who the guilty party was At first, I preferred the narrator for the first Maycroft book, but as the book progressed and I became used to the different voice, I decided that I liked the narrator for this book, as well Her character voices were distinct and expressive.I received this audiobook at no cost from Audiobookworm Promotions The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

  23. Maryanne Martins

Ok, a little too kitschy, and, all ends well for me Characters are obvious, no surprises, hardly a mystery.Mundane, contrived, slap happy ending Cozy is kind, predictable and schmaltzy is better Where is the mystery This is like a Nancy drew for teens Skip this

  24. Kasia Burlakoff

A great second book of Cozy Suburbs Mystery Series A readers needs some knowledge of the events of Book One to fully enjoy this one, especially relationships between the characters As well written as the first one, with a very good plot and many twists and turns, which had kept me on the edge of my seat until I finished Highly recommended

  25. Lynda

I found it very entertaining The characters were interesting and unique and enhanced this delightful tale about a Christmas party with a murder A small town journalist, with a long list of suspects, uses her sleuthing skills to solve this mystery This enjoyable tale to spend an afternoon with.

  26. Ashley Hedden

Sharpe Edge by Lisa B Thomas was a good read Deena winds up investigating a death that happened at her Christmas party This was a good book that keeps you guessing the whole time.

  27. 1furrball

Excellent who done it This book is a fast read that you don t want to put down or end The characters are believable, the plot has all the twists and turns of a thriller Can t wait to read .

  28. Mike Billington

I m not really a cozy mystery fan.So when I say that I really enjoyed reading Sharpe Edge by Lisa B Thomas it s because she has, in my opinion, raised the bar on that genre to new heights Her characters are believable, the situations they get themselves into read as real, and her plots are well thought out Thomas also has a strong narrative sense and there are passages in this book that are wonderfully lyrical The opening paragraph of one chapter describing how people feel at a funeral is but on [...]

  29. Tom

The prologue is an absolute masterpiece in this book it is written with sensitivity, with elegance, poignant, sad, I couldn t wait to get into the book Did it disappoint Not at all It was a page turner throughout The main characters were believable, likable and the suspense was in there also The fact that the main cast were mature added to it for me as I would regard myself as mature, though my better half might not agree with my opinion of myself It s a light read in the main with no great deta [...]

  30. Attila Benő

It was a fun read, even though it was not possible for the reader to figure out what had happened One thing I did not like was the lengthy descriptions I think there is such a thing as too much description If it has nothing to do with the story, then I m not interested in how many wrinkles the character s skirt has, what color it is, how long it is, how many times it had been worn before, and whether or not it smells like a pine cone The descriptions weren t TOO long some books I ve read had at [...]
