This is a hard one to wrap my head around for a review It s also a hard one to review in the fact that just because it wasn t my cup of tea, doesn t mean others won t get from it Simply put, this novel is a pseudo memoir with fiction mixed in If that sounds confusing, it definitely was I found it very difficult to distinguish what was real and what was not real while reading However, I also understand that aspect could have been intentional due to the mental health themes and character s mania [...]

I am the author of The Road to Amistad, a deeply personal fictional memoir about the limitless potential of humanity that I envisioned while suffering from mental illness No one in his or her right mind would publish a memoir and then follow it up with a fictional sequel However, insanity is what led me to become an author, to begin with What did I have to lose Why follow a memoir with a fictional sequel The prequel to The Road to Amistad, Detour from Normal, was originally fictional until my ed [...]

This book made me believe in the unconscious as it tries to show us things we easily miss if we just continue living without reflecting It is a wonderful little story, grasping with different ways to live a life Some of the story is based on reality, and some of it is how life would be if we were able to shed our fears and become resilient A truly enjoyable read, and a book like no others.

It was hard to review this book as it is so different than what I normally read However, It had any easy flow to it The beginning captured my interest and it was a straight forward account. At times I couldn t tell some things were fact or fiction It really makes one reflect on how a person lives their life and how we interact with those around us I wish I had read his previous book Detour From Normal prior to reading this book All in all I did enjoy the book which left me examining my own contri [...]

The Road to Amistad, by Ken Dickson, is a saga about one person s walk through life It is an interesting story, and while depicting the journey he has undertaken, and the experiences he has, while also seeking out others walking the same path as he, the book keeps a focus on the important issues in life The main character in this story undergoes many changes along the way, but he always keeps his goals and dreams in the forefront and the challenges he encounters are but stepping stones to fulfil [...]

Interesting Hopeful If only enlightenment and resilience could proliferate and permeate our society as envisioned by the author, how much joy and peace would prevail
