A lot of good discussion in here I especially profit from her sections on the move toward inwardness re spirituality and her nuancing of the free will debate Some of the other sections were mostly review for me, but nevertheless fascinating This book induced some trippy moments of self consciousness for me like, I m an animal that can interact with God

Wow There s much to consider within this small book Murphy makes an intelligent case for a non reductive physicalist paradigm I liked her point about the closed system of nature in which the deistic concept of God developed, and how it stands in relation to the similarly closed system for early dualists Some of the neurobiological talk was over my head thankfully, my wife is conducts neuroscience research so I could get some clarity from her I d love to find out how Swinburne and other contempor [...]

The section on biblical studies wasn t as satisfying as the rest of the book That said, this is a concise, profound and game changing work that should be read openly I am content to say that I am uninterested in speaking publically on whether or not I have changed my mind wink I am also content to say that this book should be read in conjunction with Joel Green s Body, Soul, and Human Life Very good Thanks Dr Murphy Can t wait to take one of your courses and get my ass kicked.

A well argued and thought defense of physicalism of a non reductionistic type versus the dualist or the trichotomist perspectives.
