One of my English teachers once told my class that instead of telling her daughter the fairy tales of Disney legend, the classic Snow White and Sleeping Beauty that had the gallant princes arriving to save the day, she d always change the ending so that the princess saved herself or, better yet, saved the prince too When her daughter, only a mere seven years old, got cancer, we all visited her and still do visit her in the hospital and would help tell stories stories of women strong enough to fe [...]

I couldn t believe it when I heard thatJuliet Marillier was writing another Sevenwaters book It s been eight years sinceDaughter of the Forest was first published and six sinceChild of the Prophecy and I honestly thought that ship had sailed I had accustomed myself to the notion that all I would ever have would be the original trilogy to keep me warm on those cold nights when only the Sevenwaters magic will do And then the unbelievable happened and she announced a fourth volume And instead of fo [...]

Cross the river left then rightMortal world fades out of sightStep into the field of timeFall so far you cannot climbSorrow s pathway tread in tearsPaved with sadness, doubts and fearsAt the gate of thorn entwinedSay farewell to humankindSet your foot inside the doorYou ll be mine forever If you made it that far in the Sevenwaters series, surely you what you are after a family saga rich with Irish folklore and romance heavy plot If you stumbled here by accident, you need to be aware that this i [...]

Beware, readers, for spoilers lie ahead I give this book 3 stars simply because I can t bring myself to give it a lower score Sort of like a reverse Will Smith on the Men in Black ride rather than I give you an F just because I can t give you a G, it s I give you a C just because I can t give you a D And, for what it s worth, it managed to not only hold my attention, but keep me on the edge of my seat until the bitter end Which, I suppose, it the basic thing an author wants for a reader But I do [...]

This was not quite as good as the books of the original trilogy, but that s such a high standard to meet I still couldn t put it down Sevenwaters is the same magical place, but this time a new foe appears, and another daughter of Sevenwaters rises to the challenge of defending her family and loves I can t wait to see where the next one takes it all.4.5 stars

Sevenwaters has the same family generation Fianne stayed with in the previous book, so this story takes place only a few years later There s the usual drama with chieftains and land, but the story brings in a lot Irish mythology when Clodagh s new baby brother and Sean s heir is stolen and replaced with a changeling There s a bit of love triangle with Clodagh and 2 of Johnny s men, then some drama where nobody will listen to her or act rationally, and then she s off to the Otherworld to bring h [...]

4.5 stars This was a nice change in for a heroine in the Sevenwaters series Clodagh is not a healer, or a seer, touched by magic, or possessed of any special ability She is exceptionally good at the ordinary skills expected of a woman of her status, and on top of that she is kind, loving, and a person of strong character.I loved this story of a young woman who needs to call on all her strength to save her family and the man she loves, and never stops to think that she might not be good enough to [...]

Marillier disappointed me with this one.I ve been a fan of her works for a long time Daughter of the Forest remains one of my favorite books ever, the remaining Sevenwaters Trilogy was fun to read, and the Bridei Chronicles fully engaged me I am so used to loving Marillier s books that, when Heir to Sevenwaters fell flat for me, I felt robbed. The story had a promising start Clodagh felt somewhat recycled from the previous Sevenwaters heroines, but at least she wasn t an herbalist My biggest comp [...]

I ve said it before, but each time I re read a book of Sevenwaters it feels just like coming home for me Heir starts a new arc for this series and though I ve never fallen as deeply in love with a novel as I did for Daughter of the Forest or Son of the Shadows, Heir to Sevenwaters is still beloved by me I love it differently than the first 3 novels of this series, but I love it all the same Clodagh is strong in a very different way than the daughters of Sevenwaters who came before her, but she i [...]

I love this series, so much and Heir to Sevenwaters is another excellent instalment.I was disappointed with the third in the series, Child of the Prophecy, but maybe that s because i loved Son of the Shadows so much This novel shows Marillier back on top form and is an excellent addition to the life and legacy of the Sevenwaters family I love knowing a history of the characters and what motivates them from reading the previous books, but what impresses me the most is how unique and addictive Mar [...]

I liked this one MUCH than book 3 Cathal is a great hero, and I love the strong female main character and her quest I also loved Becon.

Finding this book at Books A Million two weeks before the US release date was one of the thrilling moments in my life sad, I know Marillier is one of my favorite authors and specifically the Sevenwaters trilogy is one of her best This fourth novel in the series recaptured the magic of the family that I felt was lost in book 3 I also liked that it followed only 4 years after book 3 instead of an entire generation later, which is the precedent set in the other books Another departure from Marilli [...]

July 20 24, 20154.5 stars September 15 October 19, 2010.This was an excellent book The problems I had with it were very minor It sort of dragged near the middle, but soon picked up There was one unresolved question I had after I finished it Perhaps it will be answered in the next book It really deserves 4 1 2 stars.

I should have realized, when Cathal kissed me in the hallway, that my response was the first raindrop heralding a storm.

EDIT I just reread this and enjoyed it much than I apparently did the first time I say apparently because, oddly, I have absolutely no recollection of reading this book previously That almost never happens to me Once I read a story, I tend to remember them Anyway, I definitely liked this a great deal I am also stoked about reading the next book in the Sevenwaters series as well as the new book Marillier has coming out this fall Old review As far as Juliet Marillier s books go, this was fairly s [...]

Although I did not find it quite as good as Son of the Shadows and Child of the Prophecy, Heir to Sevenwaters was still a thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining read I still plan to read all the books in this series.

Extremely disappointing I can t believe the same person wrote this and the first two books of the Sevenwaters trilogy Daughter of the Forrest and Son of the Shadows were amazing seriously two of my favorite books But Heir to Sevenwaters was a complete let down Marilier didn t develop the characters or maybe I think that because I never really connected with them The plot had a good premise, but she could have done better And the heroine was nothing special And there were pages of the main charac [...]

Not anywhere near as good as the other three Sevenwaters books I was very disappointed by Clodagh s character she wasn t the sort of heroine that I was expecting She said that she was only suited to housework but then she outdid herself and succeeded on her quest perfect start for a heroine But then she found a boy she fancied and became 100% self sacrificing for her love she went so far as to suggest that she could have come up with a way to get out of the Otherworld but that she needed to let [...]

AHHHHHHother sevenwaters bookI don t think many things in life have made me so happy If I could I d give the whole series 6 stars Anyway, the only thing that was weird was that Johnny turned out to be gay, but it does tie up loose ends rather neatly with the whole heir thing and I was very glad the whole gay thing was just a passing comment and not in any way part of the story Once again, I loved the characters.old and new I m not sure how she has managed so many different love stories that are [...]

  24. Jessica

This was an enjoyable read, but it just didn t have the same magic as the original Sevenwaters trilogy I found Clodagh a bit boring and the romance element in this book wasn t that believable and felt forced I d recommend this book to fans of the original Sevenwaters trilogy and Juliet Marillier, but if you haven t read anything by her before definitely start with Daughter of the Forest.

  25. Amaryllis

I did not think this day would come For the first time ever, I am not completely en a with Juliet Marillier s hero It is such a sad, tragic day in my life Juliet s storytelling skills are as amazing as ever, though.

I m going to make this a compliment sandwich so this book doesn t feel bad about me not loving it enough. It was WAY better than the last book. But the plot is getting stale Girl meets boy You re supposed to think they re going to end up together, but they won t She s end up with the other guy who she butts heads with at the beginning of the book This is basically the plot of books 1, 2, and 4 so far 3 was a little different with less romance It s getting boring Also, view spoiler I liked hated ho [...]

  27. Kathi

With the first three books in the Sevenwaters series resolving the major plot lines, this installment opens a new arc while maintaining a strong connection to the initial trilogy While the romantic triangle is a bit predictable, Marillier takes it in unexpected and yet satisfying directions The author also continues her themes of the consequences of not sharing information, the high cost of lying by omission, the importance of loyalty, and the strength of hope And at the heart, the indomitable p [...]

I was worried I wouldnt like it as much as the first trilogy, but it had that Sevenwaters charm that I had only seen a little of in the last book, so I needn t have worried.Sean s daughter Chlodagh has taken over the day to day running of Sevenwaters, as her mother is pregnant After 6 girls, they are finally expecting a son But how will this affect the line of succession to Sevenwaters and how will the new residents of the Otherworld react When a changeling made of sticks is left in her brothers [...]
