Daddy Mouse chases Mouse Baby around the garden and through the house trying to get him to head to bed Mouse Baby hides in the kitchen, in the bathroom, and the living room with his father right behind Until finally, Daddy manages to grab his tail just before he runs off to a new hiding place The pace of the fast moving book changes to a slow bedtime story as Mouse Baby is tucked into his matchbox bed This is an adorable bedtime story with just enough running and romping to keep it lively and fu [...]

Baby Mouse leads Daddy Mouse all over the place as they prepare for bed, running and hiding behind a tree, in the garden, up the curtains until finally, he settles in for a good night s sleep The patience of the father and the mischieviousness of his offspring are revealed through the rhyming text and pen and ink, acrylic and colored pencil illustrations The patience of parenthood shines through every page This one will be great fun to read aloud to children who will surely relate to the merry m [...]

Well, I really wanted to like this book than I did With Hide and Squeak though, I just felt like it was trying too hard or something I like the bedtime story twist, and I love the interactions of the baby mouse and the daddy The text is written with great voice and the rhyme is nice, I just didn t feel that this book was a homerun.Little Squeak is not ready for bed and proceeds to play chase with his daddy and hide Their chase ends in goodnight hugs and kisses, but just lacked the luster of oth [...]

Hide and Squeak is a warm and super cute tale about a baby mouse trying to scurry and scamper away from his Dad and bedtime.Who hasn t tried to wiggle out of going to bed With repeating calls and sounds, this could be the cutest telling of the chase and hunt on record I am not a big awww isn t he cute type gal, but this mouse is adorable Readers won t be able to hide their smiles after Mouse Baby cannonballs into the bath tub Made me smile 2 22 12

Kids will enjoy seeing Baby Mouse enact the sort of bedtime escape they can empathize with The rhyme flows beautifully and the pictures are fun, with mice that look reminiscent of Garth Williams illustrations.

OooohI just loved this book With its Karma Wilson esque bouncy rhyming narrative and adorable illustrations, this was such a fun book to read aloud The narrative has a big font and is short enough to hold the attention of even the youngest toddler And the thoughtful expressions on Daddy mouse and the mischievous grin on baby mouse are terrific I have loved C.F Payne s illustrations from the back covers of the Reader s Digest, but I think he s really got a hit here This book gets a rare 5 star ra [...]

Really cute pictures The text was ok Fun to see the dad search for his son Just not sure it s what I m used to using in preschool storytime Worth a try.9 21 16 9 22 16 Used as opener in toddler Mouse theme It held enough attention There just wasn t much I could do with it to get the kids involved I m still on a learning curve with this group, and I was never fully behind the book as a read aloud But it was nice to have this book with the couple of dads who bring their kids to storytime.

It s time for bed, but the mouse baby isn t done playing yet With Daddy finding and baby mouse hiding, they have quite an adventure before bedtime What I thought Cute The repetitive text will appeal to children The story is sweet and I love the illustrations They re so colorful and filled with action as is the story Daddy Mouse s glasses are great My favorite illustrations are mouse baby in the tub and daddy tucking baby in My mom used to tuck us in and say snug as a bug in a rug I look forward [...]

Sweet rhyming book with equally appealing illustrations Text is short enough for toddler stoytime and rhymes are fun, not forced Baby mouse leads his dad on a game of hide and squeak around the garden and the house at bedtime Children will have fun looking for mouse baby, and the chase ends with a satisfying hug A great follow up companion to Good Night Moon.

It s bedtime and Mouse daddy chases Mouse baby through the garden and the house Told in rhyme, it s a cute little book to read at bedtime, although I didn t like the page where Daddy catches Baby by the tail don t we tell kids not to pull a dog s or a cat s tail The illustrations show the love between a father and child.

It s time to go to bed and the mouse baby is still out and about His dad goes searching for him and chases him around He never gets angry as the mouse baby hops from one place to the other, hiding an d squeaking Finally, his dad grabs him by the tail, gives him a big hug and a kiss and then tucks the mouse baby in bed A playful story that is fun to read because of the rhymes.

This dad and baby mouse are cute with a capital C With all the other mouse characters out there, illustrator C F Payne who teaches at CCAD makes his mice unique and lively in this rhyming story about a hide and seek chase before bedtime Large font and large scale illustrations make this a good choice for group readaloud.

It seems I ended up with quite a few mouse themed books in this group I rather enjoyed this one Father mouse is pursuing his wayward child trying to rescue him from certain peril There s a loving, joyful relationship between the two characters Wonderful read for parents who might have a hard time getting kids to settle down and go to bed at night.

Little mouse should be going to bed instead, he leads his father in a game of hide and squeak Father mouse eventually grabs mouse by the tail and swings him in or a great big hig and kiss before tucking his little one into bed This is one of my favorites to read at story time Simple, large illustrations and I love that it s a dad with his little one, very sweet story

Pro Cute depiction of a father relationship, nice use of the game hide and seek as a frameCon a little long for my taste, not much of a arc to the story they run and play until they stop , and I m a little weirded out by the dad pulling his tail to catch him.

  21. Sydney McClure

This is a funny book about a child mouse not wanting to go to bed, so his dad chases him around the house and garden to try to get him to bed There are simple rhymes in the book, which makes it easy for younger readers.
